Time for Jam

One of the best things about being a mother is you are ALWAYS & FOREVER a mother. And the great thing about being a mother to an adult child is the friendship that develops beyond the parent/child relationship. How thankful I am for the friendships that have been passed down from generation to generation in our family. Grandmothers, daughters, nieces, sisters, mothers, and granddaughters, we are all truly friends.

Many of those relationships have been fostered working and “playing” together in the kitchen. I hold my childhood”kitchen memories” of my sister, mother and grandmother so very dear. Now that I am getting older, and both my sister and grandmother have passed on, my kitchen time is spent mostly with my only daughter.

I LOVED making peach jam with my cute daughter a few weeks ago. She showed up at my house one Saturday morning with a half bushel of peaches that was given to her, and we set out on a jam adventure. A dear neighbor told me to come and pick her raspberries that same morning, which me and my husband did together.  Combining raspberries and peaches turned out to be simply delicious! I’m not sure why I hadn’t thought of that combination before.

Want to know my families secret freezer jam recipe that has been handed down from generations? Simply buy pectin and follow the recipe found inside the box.  🙂  If you have never made freezer jam don’t be intimidated, it truly is SUPER easy and only has 4 ingredients: fruit, lemon juice, pectin and sugar. It’s worth spending some time in the kitchen for, not only for delicious homemade jam you will enjoy for months, but for the time spent together with your loved ones.
